Safe handling of the pistol is provided by a reliable safety mechanism and the hammer moving automatically to the half-cock position when the trigger is released.
  • 5.45mm pistol   The PSM is a personal offensive/defensive weapon. It is designed to engage enemy manpower at short distances. This is a self-loading weapon, in which all the pistol reloading and cocking functions are performed automatically upon firing. It has a hammer-type double-action (DA) firing mechanism that allows for single-shot fire, both with pre-cocking the hammer and in the DA mode. The pistol fires the MPTs (7N7) pistol cartridges with steel-core bullet and brass case.

The pistol is a semi-automatic double-action (DA) weapon. Its hammer-type trigger mechanism enables shooting from the cocked position and in the DA mode. The pistol has two safeties that are automatically disengaged: one - when the hand grasps the pistol grip and the other when the trigger is pressed before firing. There is also an ambidextrous manual safety switch on both sides of the frame.
